Sr Manager, Social Media & Influencer Relations
For Darla, public relations is about building two-way connections. Whether between her and a client, a client and their client, between guests, with vendors, business partners, coworkers, influencers or all of the above, her priority is relationship building. She believes business is about people (it’s a cliché for a reason). To her, people don’t just keep the work flowing, but also keep each other going. That’s been her approach through years of collaboration with clients in various stages of growth, from family-owned small businesses to multibillion dollar brands.
Her work focuses on building digital campaigns and online footprints for brands, helping them navigate the perpetually evolving landscape of web and social media. In collaboration with client teams, Darla has launched new products, created online platforms and planned digital activations for events and conferences. She also leads conceptual development of creative assets like photography, animations, graphics, videography and copy.
Her portfolio spans many industries and sectors, including retail, hospitality and tourism, food and beverage, lifestyle, government, health care and tech. Notable clients include Google, AT&T, Lowe’s, YouTube, Chili’s, AbbVie and Android.
Holding true to her relationship-building roots, Darla has also spent much of her professional time developing internal initiatives to strengthen DE&I and CSR efforts within her companies. She has organized panels, workshops, donation drives, book swaps, newsletters and more aimed at 1) understanding varying perspectives, 2) amplifying underrepresented voices, and 3) finding tangible ways to promote racial, gender, and economic equity within her communities.
Outside of work, Darla doesn’t like to do the same thing twice. She’d prefer being decent at many things over being the best at any one thing. Some hobbies she’s explored include sketch art, water polo, dance, embroidery, surfing, pastry making, pottery and the occasional Pinterest-inspired craft project (usually some type of holiday décor).
Darla earned a B.A. in public relations from Texas Tech University, during which time she determined the quality of an oat milk latte is the best way to judge a new coffee shop.
