THE END OF ONE CHAPTER & THE BEGINNING OF ANOTHER

By BrieAnn Fast Diggins, co-founder

Not only does 2020 mark the end of one decade, it also marks the end of one chapter at BPR and the commencement of another. After co-founding and co-owning B Public Relations for nearly nine years, I have made the decision to sell my ownership in the company to my partner, Jordan. I recently became a mom and want to focus on raising my baby boy, Lachlan and helping manage PR for the developments my husband and I own, including The Ramble Hotel in Denver. This departure signals a big switch in priorities for me, but one that is also the beginning of a grand new adventure!

And, the adventure that was had over the past decade is a tough one to beat: Jordan and I ventured out on our own and started BPR in January of 2011. We always joke that it wasn’t an act of bravery, but rather one of desperation. We had been working at a large PR firm together for several years and found that we weren’t able to deliver the kind of results we wanted to clients for a number of reasons — reasons that weren’t fixable from the roles we were in. So, we left, with the anticipation of each doing PR in a freelance capacity for the foreseeable future. After realizing the isolation of working from home wasn’t a good fit for either of us, we found a very small office in an old building in Cherry Creek that offered month-to-month rent. Shortly thereafter, we ended up winning clients of our own. Those first three clients – Hotel Teatro, C Lazy U ranch and Kevin Taylor Restaurant Group – are still clients of BPR’s today, nearly nine years later. From there, we decided to make the leap and grew BPR slowly and strategically, purposefully only taking clients within industries that we were both personally passionate – travel and hospitality. We didn’t hire our first full time employees until about three years in, but from there, the company steadily grew to today’s 14-person team alongside an amazing portfolio of clients like Boulder’s own St Julien Hotel & Spa, destinations such as Snowmass, Colorado, Sonoma Valley and Dana Point, California, and restaurants like The Fort and RheinHaus, among many others. Over the past few years, we have been named the top PR firm in Colorado by media outlets like Colorado Biz and Expertise.com.

Since winning those first three clients, I have learned so much. I am so grateful for the amazing people I have had the opportunity to work with, the incredible experiences and travels that BPR afforded me and for the relationships I still have with those clients, journalists and our wonderful team at B. These people and this work expanded my world exponentially and I will forever be grateful for that. I am so proud of the agency that Jordan and I created, and still pinch myself when I see where we took BPR in less than 10 years. Jordan and I remain great friends and I know she’ll take the company to new, extraordinary heights in the next ten years.
