COVID-19: HOW CAN YOU HELP? KEEP CALM AND CARRY OUT (OR ORDER DELIVERY!)

Wow. What a difference a day, week or month can make. Like most of you, we never expected our lives to be flipped upside down in an instant. In addition to everyone affected by COVID-19, our hearts hurt for our clients – those in the travel, restaurant and events industries – among those most economically impacted by the “new normal.”

The good news is you can help some of them during this time – by doing what many of us already love to do – enjoying great food. Check out a list of our partners – our family – who would love to feed you curbside carryout or delivery meals, as well as other ways you can help.

We, like you, can’t wait to pull up a barstool and enjoy the community that these and all restaurants offer again soon, but in the meantime, let’s make sure we support them now.

The Fort
Every Wednesday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., The Fort is offering takeout, curbside pickup and delivery via UberEats. Hungry Denverites can place an advanced order from The Fort’s Family Style and Fur Trade Potables menu, which includes large format favorites like buffalo prime rib, Thomas Jefferson’s Green Chile Mac n’ Cheese, wine and cocktails. Same day orders of many other Fort favorites, as well as gift cards, are also available.

Unfortunately, like most restaurants during COVID-19 shutdowns, The Fort has had to temporarily lay off 55 restaurant employees, many of whom have worked at The Fort for years. To help support those employees, the restaurant’s proprietress, Holly Arnold Kinney, has started a GoFundMe campaign to fund “Comfort Food Sundays,” supplying all employees and their families with a free meal on Sunday evenings. The 10 remaining Fort employees and Kinney herself cook comfort dishes each week for their former teammates, while also fulfilling public takeout orders. Postino
Both the LoHi and South Broadway locations of Postino are offering full menu (and wine!) carryout, curbside and delivery via UberEats, as well as new stay-at-home specials such as the “Date Night-In” (board of bruschetta, one snacky thing and one salad) for $25, and the “Kickback Pack” (board of bruschetta, three snacky things and a cheese board) for $45.

The restaurant has also organized #TakeOutForTeams. In additon to taking online donations through GoFundMe, all donations from guests picking up carryout meals will provide support for team members financially impacted by the crisis.

J Street Food Truck
While also offering family-style meal delivery from a weekly-changing menu, our friends at J Street Food Truck have launched a program to donate meals to medical workers during COVID-19. For a $30 donation, J Street will donate four, individually packaged hot meals – including a hot entrée, side and dessert – to staff at hospitals including Children’s Hospital, Denver Health and UC Health Denver. So far they have received donations for 400 meals, and dropped their first 100 to paramedics at Denver Health this past weekend; their immediate goals is 1,000.

Northside Eatery & Market
In addition to a limited takeout menu available for carryout, Northside will personally deliver within one mile, or further via DoorDash. Northside’s market is also open for grab-and-go produce, pantry and household items – including toilet paper! On Saturdays & Sundays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., enjoy “Brunch in a Box.” To-go cocktails kits, including alcohol, are available for takeout as well.

Hickory & Ash
Hickory & Ash is offering a limited number of special takeout meals every weekday from noon to 5 p.m. For $50, each meal feeds two adults, and consists of salad, soup, protein, a side and dessert, as well as a la carte beverage options, all packaged for you to enjoy in the comfort of your home. Check out the daily changing menu on Instagram.

Jill’s Restaurant & Bistro
Jill’s Restaurant & Bistro, located within Boulder’s St Julien Hotel & Spa, is offering a limited menu available for breakfast, lunch and dinner – as well as locals’ favorite Vegan Friday and Vegan Monday menus – all available “drive-thru” style, via two windows.

Que Bueno Suerte
From noon to 8 p.m. every day, Que Bueno Suerte offers curbside, carryout and delivery from a menu of Mexican favorites, including tacos, margaritas to-go and larger format family meals. Each order receives free chips and salsa, and customers enjoy $5 back for every $25 they spend.

Boyer’s Coffee
Finally, in incredibly sad news at a time when we all need the opposite, Boyer’s Coffee’s roastery and café – which was previously offering curbside carryout – experienced the devastating loss of its historic facility via fire last week. While you can’t support the local, family-owned company via carryout right now, consider purchasing its products in grocery, or contributing to a GoFundMe campaign to support rebuilding, as well as employees impacted by the loss.
